Journey

First things first, I would like to start this off by saying how excited/nervous I am to start this journey. Part of my reason for even writing something like this, is to try to hold myself accountable with my studies. I have always been fascinated with hacking or penetration testing. My interest was first piqued when I watched the movie Hackers with my dad.

In my current position I am a system administrator, I work with Windows, Linux (I learned Linux on an old legacy Solaris system((technically Unix lol)) and I was hooked), and I do some switching and routing (CCNA level).

One of my biggest motivations to learn and go down this journey is the desire for greatness, and to destroy the imposter syndrome that plagues my inner psyche.

I currently possess the Security +, and I’m about to graduate with my bachelors in Information Systems Management. I actually like this program, because I get to deal with some technical concept such as programming, but I also get to figure out how to plan projects, working with others (I think this is widely overlooked in Information Technology, your ability to communicate with others, and play off each others strengths is paramount for success in my opinion).

I should stop rambling, my current plan for the OSCP, is to complete both the Elearn Security PTS and PTP, TJNulls HTB list, and try some of the Pentester Labs exercises. I am going to complete the PTS soon, and I’m excited to move onto the PTP. I will document my journey with each certification, things that help me out, and write ups as I go along. If you took the time to read this, thank you!
